    OB Stands in Solidarity with Coalition of Immokalee Workers

    The following proposal was passed at the General Assembly of Occupy Boston on April 7, 2012:

    To continue the success of groundbreaking agreements with food retailers, Occupy Boston stands with the Decolonize to Liberate Working Group, in solidarity with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers in their quest for adoption of the Fair Food Program by “Giant Supermarkets” to eliminate modern day slavery in the daily violation of basic human rights, including physical and sexual abuse, and exposure to pesticides, in order to harvest the food on our plates.  Occupy Boston will utilize its resources to spread the word and get people to Stop and Shop headquarters on April 12, 2012 at 12:00 PM to join in the action to demonstrate our commitment to human and worker rights.

    Occupy Boston Endorses Camp Charlie and Stands in Solidarity with National Actions

    The following proposal was passed by the Occupy Boston general assembly on April 5th:

    The genesis of the State House occupation was an autonomous action by members of Occupy Boston. Moving forward, Occupy Boston as a community endorses the continuation of the occupation at the State House until April 14th as an Occupy Boston action. Occupy Boston stands in solidarity with actions nationally that attempt to secure public transportation as a right.

    GA Approves Rent $ for People of Color Working Group

    The below proposal reached agreement at Occupy Boston’s General Assembly, on Sunday, April 1.

    The People of Color Working Group requests $240 for one month trial use for renting space in the First Church of Roxbury for its weekly meetings and its monthly joint meeting with Anti-Oppression and Decolonize to Liberate working groups.

    If the trial is successful, Occupy Boston GA approves the use of funds for two additional months’ rent at First Church of Roxbury. If the trial is not successful, POC is free to use the funds for renting a different space.

    In addition, if any of the three working groups wish to organize an event, at the church (or any location), during this time period, an additional $75 is available.

    If the monies are used for any purpose other than rent, POC will be fully transparent about how the monies are spent.

    GA Agrees to FAWG Request for a Community Conversation

    The below proposal was agreed to at Occupy Boston’s General Assembly, on Tuesday, 3/27/12

    Occupy Boston’s Financial Accountability Working Group invites the OB community to hear FAWG’s story, to consider its history,  to feel its distress, to understand its observations and concerns, to think about OB’s relationship to FAWG and to money  – and to engage in a conversation.

    FAWG proposes to tell this story and to facilitate this conversation, at Occupy Boston’s General Assembly, for two hours, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.

    FAWG will take minutes of the conversation and capture key ideas, issues and concerns on easel pad paper, all of which will be made available for review on FAWG’s wiki page.

    FAWG will ask for evaluation and possible next steps, at the end of the meeting.

    Funds Released for Future Occupations

    The following proposal was passed by the General Assembly of Occupy Boston on March 24, 2012:

    The Tactical working group proposes the release of the $14k earmarked to Tactical for future occupations. This money can only be spent for materials directly related or needed for an occupation. These materials will include items such as tents, easy-ups, chairs, electrical supplies, and logistical materials. If more than $1,000 is needed for anything listed above, tactical will come before the GA for approval before spending.
