    Thursday, November 16 at 12 PM – 4 PM

Don’t deport single mother Siham Byah

Single mother Siham Byah was detained on Nov 7th, by Immigration And Customs Enforcement (ICE). We need you to pressure the local ICE office in Burlington, MA to #FreeSiham. We can’t let Siham be deported to Morocco with her 8 year old son waiting for her to come home. Please sign the petition to #FreeSiham now.

Siham, resident of Nahant and from Morocco is a human rights activist. Sources close to her believe she has been targeted because of her activism and are fearful that this is part of a growing epidemic of undocumented immigrants being targeted for their constitutional use of free speech. Her detention was totally unexpected, completely unwarranted, and in direct violation of established ICE policy. She had no time to plan care for her 8 year old son.

Matt Cameron, her lawyer, spoke with Siham on Tuesday, and told him to let us all know that she will be on a hunger strike until she is released. She is deeply appreciative of your calls and commitment to show up for her. Sign the petition here to #FreeSiham so she can be reunited with her son. The community is mobilizing to #FreeSiham and show our support. Please call local ICE officer Homsy at the number below.

CALL ICE: 781-359-7500 press 4#, and tell the desk officer that you are calling to ask for Siham Byah to be released back to the community.

CALL HER CONGRESSMAN: Representative Seth Moulton, (202) 225-8020 or (978) 531-1669, and Tweet @sethmoulton

Movimiento Cosecha and IfNotNow Boston organized a rally for Siham on Nov 8th. It looks like there’s another rally planned for the 15th:

Boston Takes a Knee for Justice

Hosted by Mass Action Against Police Brutality

Sunday Oct. 29th at 1 PM
    State House Boston

The silent protest started by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to kneel during the national anthem in protest to the scourge of police violence and brutality disproportionately meted out to Black people has continued to spread. It has brought a backlash against those who have joined the protest whose right to voice their views in this manner has been challenged. Kaepernick’s protest itself was in response to the tens of thousands who have been taking to the streets demanding justice throughout the country since the police murder of Mike Brown in Ferguson, MO in 2014.

When President Trump weighed in on the debate he simply added fuel to the fire. The message has become lost somewhat as a debate over the right to protest itself. But this was always a protest against police brutality and racism.

On the one year anniversary of the deadly police shooting of Terrence Coleman in Boston, MA we call on all supporters of this righteous protest to join with us as we stand up to the backlash and bring the focus back to the victims of police brutality and their families.

We are calling on the State Attorney Maura Healy to reopen the cases of police involved shootings of Terrence Coleman, Usaamah Rahim, Burrell Ramsey-White, Ross Batista, Denis Reynoso, Eurie Stamps, and all other victims of police brutality in the state of Massachusetts. We also protest in solidarity with the people of St Louis who have been taking to the streets since the acquittal of officer Jason Stockley for the murder of Anthony Lamar Smith in September.

Immediately appoint a special prosecutor to reopen all past cases of police brutality!

    Jail all killer cops!

We Will Not Leave Our Sister Behind-Don’t Prosecute The Canary

Winner, a recent Air Force veteran, has been charged under the Espionage Act, a 100-year-old statute originally designed for spies and saboteurs, for allegedly giving a document vital to the public’s understanding of potential Russian interference in U.S. election systems to a news organization. She faces up ten years and a $250,000 fine. She is now scheduled for trial in Augusta, Georgia in March, 2018.

The charge against Winner is grossly disproportionate to her alleged offense, and is designed to create a chilling effect on investigative journalism by dissuading sources from sharing information that is critical to the public interest. We are dedicated to raising public awareness of Winner’s case especially since the federal judge down in Augusta denied her bail-again- and in light of the U.S. government’s persistent abuse of the Espionage Act to silence its critics and stifle journalism.
