Our sisters and brothers in Occupy San Franciso are presently being raided by the San Francisco Police Department for the second time this week. You can watch it live here. Stand strong and peaceful, San Francisco! Boston stands with you.
Update: Apparently the San Francisco Police Depratment has decided to take a page out of the Boston Police Department’s playbook; they’re moving in garbage trucks to confiscate and destroy the protestors’ private property.

Thanks Joshua
Here’s Krugman putting a point on what everyone’s doing out there in the first place. This kind of argument should make it into more of Occupies’ releases and headlines so that the reason all these folks are getting arrested stays on top.

Private property illegally in a public space is no longer private. Sorry, squatters.
word.

So, you all get protection for your “private property” but those that own the land you’re protesting on do not?
Hypocritical…
We protest on *public* land or land reserved for public use.
unfortunately for you, you’ve twisted the ‘right to assembly’ into some sort of ‘right to camp out’.
it is NOT what our forefathers were referring to.
your time is limited as you are truly trespassing and destroying *public* land or land reserved for public use. land that YOU will not be paying for to repair and return BACK to public use, not for exclusive use of your little boy and girl scout pow wow.
Dipshit.
To odoylerules–While I don’t support the Occupy protests, I strongly disagree with your analysis of the Founding Father’s intention in establishing the First Amendment. This kind of protest is EXACTLY the kind of thing imagined by the Founding Fathers. It is peaceful protest in demand of political action, the purest form of political speech. It couldn’t be closer to the word and intention of the First Amendment.
Why don’t you guy’s go to the source of the problem, it’s called Washington D.C.
I will also bet any amount of money that if you protest people were offered a 6 figure job from a so-called (Capitolist Pig) you would throw down your little Soro’s or SEIU sign and jump all over it.
I think that these folks are partially protesting the Tea Party and its current hold on Washington.
To Odoylerules:
I disagree with your analysis of what SPEECH the Founding Fathers intended to protect under the First Amendment. This is highly likely what those men had in mind to protest and seek redress from their government.
As Patrick in Boston stated above: “This kind of protest is EXACTLY the kind of thing imagined by the Founding Fathers. It is peaceful protest in demand of political action, the purest form of political speech. It couldn’t be closer to the word and intention of the First Amendment.”
You may want to consider that the Founding Fathers, a group of men who opposed the repressive rule of England over the colonies, were considered radicals of their times and certainly criminals by the Crown. History often bears out the truth – most revolutions, and/or systemic changes in government, are led by people who initially are criticized, condemned, or reviled. Nothing new here. The Tea Party people positively revere the Founding Fathers and even try to dress up in imitation. I find the irony very rich indeed.
