MAY 1st DAY OF ACTIONS PLANNED FOR EAST BOSTON, CHELSEA, AND EVERETT BEGINNING AT 2:30 PM

May 1, 2016 marks the 127th anniversary of the nationwide general strike for the eight hour day!

International Workers’ Day also known as “May Day”, is celebrated around the world to honor the struggles for workers’ rights. On May 1st, 1886, and in the days that followed, Chicago police opened fire, attacking thousands of workers on strike to improve their working conditions among the demands was the forty-hour week.

This year’s commemoration and celebration comes as workers and families of all backgrounds face unprecedented political challenges on issues ranging from budget cuts to education, healthcare and human services, to the fight for labor unions to housing justice and the struggle for undocumented workers.

Workers across the world have stood together to unite all of our struggles because “An injury to one is an injury to all!”
