Ironic “Pro-Corporate” March
12-2 pm leaving from the Parkman Bandstand (Boston Commons)
Mayor Menino has said that he’d “hate our city to ever be associated with anti-corporate protests.” In an effort to be accommodating, we’re calling for an (ironic) “Pro-Corporate” March that should be right up his alley.
Come on out in your finest 1%er costume and bring signage to match!!!
WE ARE THE 1% — PROFITS OVER PEOPLE — CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE — MORE YACHTS
You get the idea.
Picnic
~2-4 pm at the Commons
We’ll relax, eat, and socialize between actions. If you can, bring enough food to share!
Occupy Boston Tea Party
~4-5 pm leaving the Commons
The Boston Tea Party wasn’t just a direct action against the British government; it was also directed against the abuses of the monopolistic East India Company. Sound familiar?
Join us as we make this historical connection explicit by re-enacting the Boston Tea Party, Occupy-style. Please bring small signs to label crates full of things that YOU would like to dump into the water. Also: as much fake money as you can manage!

Great ideas! These sorts of demonstrations are needed!
Will get the same response from police as other occupy movements?
Please be careful here. Playing in to stereotype and otherness is a very risky road to walk. Call your opponents to higher ground. But you can only do that if you are standing on it.
Ah protesters! OK if it’s one thing that I have learnt it’s these guys are hippies and need to get jobs I mean how do they have this free time? get jobs etc. etc.!
When was the this anti capitalism and anti 1% rhetoric passed by any so-called General Assembly? As far as I know it wasn’t and this article is a complete fraud. And why are you silent on the real problem, the federal government’s absolute monopoly on power? Already early on in this movement you exposed yourselves by making the issue of so-called corporate personhood one of the maybe 3 or 4 slogans people would repeat. This obscure issue would not all of a sudden come from the grass roots of a social movement but was obviously planted by those upset at Obama’s failure to have the Supreme Court rule in his favor in his attempt to deny free speech rights to a corporate entity attempting to air an anti Hillary documentary.

I urge everyone to go to the Commons and try to work with the Occupy movement. Don’t make any presumptions about anything by looking at the internet. Actually these kids don’t do technology and don’t do the internet really. There is no discussion and education and debate going on at all. For some reason they are like a throwback to the days before the internet. If you actually go out to Occupy Boston you can find many favorable to capitalism and free markets and nuclear energy and disempowering the federal government.

WE ARE THE 1% – PROFITS OVER PEOPLE – CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE – MORE YACHTS This post is missleading disinfo. that is not what capitalism it about.
Losif, I agree with you that if you go to a general assembly and meet actual Occupy Boston people, you will find a varied group, everything from a Republican to a Libertarian to and Anarchist, but mostly average working people who see the deck is stacked against them.

There is a lot of debate and dialog online, and a lot of dialog in face to face meetings. Most of the online dialog happens on email lists, so you will not see it if you’re not subscribed to those lists. Working groups are where a lot of conversation happens about logistical things as well as the nature of the democracy we are building, and what we believe in, where we’re going.
