Environmentalist, author, and journalist Bill McKibben will be visiting us at 5:30 pm on Thursday, October 20. McKibben is the Co-founder and Global Organizer of 350.org and has been most active recently as a lead spokesperson for the Tar Sands Action campaign, whose nonviolent direct actions at the White House earlier this year resulted in a dramatic 1250+ arrests.

Excellent! Thanks for the heads up!
This propagandist is an Obama apologist that is funded by the rockefeller foundation. Has organized 15,000 protests worldwide and played a big role in Australia passing the carbon tax. I would like to know who he (350 dot org) banks with in order to do all that. His most recent activity was in pakistan (for global warming research).
DO NOT LET THE OCCUPY MOVEMENT GET HIJACKED BY OPPORTUNISTS!
I agree with the general sentiment. Too many celebrities, loving the adulation & limelight.
i agree. people like this have nothing to do with occupy. if they want to fight eminent domain, i’m a fan. if they’re on about increasing government’s role to pretend to protect the environment, i’m against it.
this is what occupy should focus on: reclaiming our right as the people to determine what is right. we must not dump the responsibility of doing good onto government offices.
if you build an audience, they will come.
Oil is the highest form of capitalism.
Living off one’s own land is the highest form of communism.
I’ll let you decide…
Bill is not a celebrity, nor an opportunist. I understand fear and apprehension of having the occupy movement being hijacked, but in this case, it is misplaced emotion. Occupy has evolved into an umbrella movement representing all voices of the discontent, dispossessed, and raged for total, sustainable, and holistic social and economic justice. The fight against climate change absolutely has it’s place in this movement. After all, no planet, no movement.
Of course he’s a celebrity. If he weren’t, then why all the advertising?
