United American Indians of New England (UAINE) have endorsed Occupy Boston! Here is an excerpt of their statement of support:
United American Indians of New England (UAINE) supports Occupy/Decolonize Boston and the Occupy/Decolonize Wall Street movement generally.
We are deeply moved and encouraged that Occupy/Decolonize Boston, as one of its very first actions, issued a memorandum in solidarity with Indigenous peoples. We have been the victims of corporate greed for centuries. If you seek to re-imagine a new society free of corporate greed, then we would ask that you learn all you can about the past that has carried us to this place.
We fully support the right of the Occupy/Decolonize Boston encampment to expand from Dewey Square to other parks and open spaces in the city, without the necessity of permits and without fear of police reprisals.

Whern are you people going to get out and stop making our city ugly?
never.
I need to here how you justify spitting on a Coast Guard member.
What about the way police have been treating peaceful protesters?
it’s unjustifiable. i am not convinced it actually happened. i have heard that rumor too, but i have not seen any evidence that it actually happened. i if it did happen, then i am sure that occupy boston as a whole condemns it. whoever did that does not represent the movement. but frankly, i think this story is part of a smear campaign. until i see it somewhere other than fox news, i don’t believe it.
when are you going to realize that we’re trying to make the country better for everyone?
The police are ding their job USCG ladywas walking through and was spit on. where is the comparison now? Help me understand why you wouldn’t say that there are bad apples everywhere and you are sorry it happend. Instead you act like it was her fault.
Nell your a real great American!!
fed up, have some fucking respect. seriously. you need to find something better to do than insult people. if you think you’re such an expert on what would improve boston, why don’t you go try volunteering at a homeless shelter or something. no? i didn’t think so.
Why would one volunteer at a homeless shelter? To feel good about themselves?
what do you do to feel good about yourself, frank?
The city is ugly with greed already, the whole country is ugly, you can thank us later it’s ok, sit back and do nothing, or worse complain, and we’ll keep on working to make the world better.
When are the citizens of Boston going to Occupy “Occupy Boston” and demand the end of our tax dollars being used to support and manage these drifters?
can you name one way in which tax dollars are actually being used to support them? one way that you can actually prove. i expect a link to a credible source, no one takes anger-filled vitriol seriously.
tax dollars are being used by mayor menino to pay the BPD overtime to disrupt a peaceful protest.
why can’t you hatred filled people post your comments somewhere else? you’re free to criticize OWS but do you really have to do it on this particular page?
Sorry guys – my First Ammendment right trumps your annoyance. The First Ammendment does not say “the right to peacably assemble…IF it doesn’t bother people who don’t agree with you”
You’re not peaceably assembling if you’re breaking any other law while doing it. So trespassing while assembling nullifies your First Amendment right.
Well, keep in mind that by that logic, civil disobedience is never acceptable — even though it’s a powerful tool for protest. I say that if Occupy Boston believes that their demands to end financial corruption are more important than following simple trespassing laws, they have a right to risk arrest (and annoyance) to protect their right to assemble and occupy.
Well, well, well- infiltrator gets access to the organizers of this protest and of course it proves what useful idiots you all actually are. http://biggovernment.com/thomasryan/2011/10/14/the-email-archive-of-the-occupywallstreet-movement-anarchists-socialists-jihadists-unions-democrats/
There are Anarchists in the Occupy movement? You might want to tell them about the Democrats and the Socialists, since Anarchists think both of those groups are authoritarian.
There are Socialists in the Occupy movement? You might want to tell them about the Democrats, since Socialists think Democrats are reactionaries, and the Anarchists, since Socialists think Anarchists are counter-revolutionary.
There are Democrats in the Occupy movement? You might want to tell them about the Anarchists and the Socialists, since Democrats think both of those groups are extremists.
There are jihadists in the Occupy movement? You might want to tell everyone else, since no one likes jihadists!
I mean, really, now.
This Socialist has nothing against Democrats or Anarchists…or Rebublicans/Libritarians/Conservatives/Etc. I think we can work together. Radical Islamic fundamentalists don’t really have anything to do with this movement…but thanks for your concern.
Well, apparently they are all working together in this case and posting on Jihadist sites. Really now. And Joshua you should loosen your tie it looks like your head is going to pop off of your body.
There certainly may be anarchists, socialist, unions, and democrats (and, uh, I guess jihadists?) in the movement, and some of them may be orchestrating their own autonomous protests. But you really can’t say that these groups are *using* the protests. Everyone involved is doing so of their own free will, and there’s no one, monolithic hierarchy that tells people what to do and what to think, or what agenda to follow.
You could attend your local gathering of protestors and see for yourself, and add on your own ideas! For example, what do you think of a corrupt government that props up financial institutions, while taxing small business more than it does powerful, multi-national corporations? Personally, I want economic fairness more than I want to support the Democratic party.
Why don’t you read the emails Dchavez? These people were working together and planning on organizing you from the beginning. You are useful idiots to them. They don’t care if you die of hypothermia, or if some teen is exposed to heroin for the first time from a fellow occupier, or if you catch HIV from unprotected sex in a sleeping bag next to a rat infested tree. You are a means to an ends to these people and they are organizing you.
Right, I just did. It looks Anonymous (a separate online group of hackers) is planning various cyber attacks in support of the movement, which I doubt any non-hackers could be participating in. I have no idea what that page in Arabic says; do you have a translation so that I can address it? As for the rest, it looks like a number of self-described anarchist individuals and groups have offered to help teach people safe and effective protesting tactics, which are always helpful — but none of these people define or speak for the movement. Many (myself included) are hesitant to entirely accept unions to accept unions who jumped on board once the protests gained steam, and most blame Obama and the Democratic party for not doing enough to fix the problem.
I’ve been out in the streets whenever I have time off from work, and I haven’t seen anyone trying to organize me to join their radical agenda. Nor have I seen any heroin (drugs and alcohol are generally banned and unwelcome), rats, or unprotected sex…those tents can’t be comfortable! Instead, I’ve seen ordinary people coming together to protest and discuss the systematic problems we face.
We should all focus instead on these issues. What do you think of the points I brought up? I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I care more about finding solutions than following any one particular agenda.

We are the 99%, the 99% of the general public that have no idea what the 1% Occupy is protesting about.
We are the 99%, the 99% of the general public that want order in our city while us hard working people go to work to support our families.
We are the 99%, the 99% of the general public that want our city cleaned up.
We are the 99%, the 99% of the general public that beleive this is being fueled from those not even from our cities.
We are the 99%. The 99% that work full time jobs, pay taxes, raise families, have friends, shower regularly, volunteer and contribute to the economy and STILL manage to find time to support and participate in the Occupy Movement. Because this movement stands for you, too. You just have not accepted that yet.
Proud resident of Boston who supports the movement while working a full-time job! Before we clean up the city, I say we clean up the system that keeps the richest 1% in power and ignores the rest.
Bravo!
Regarding endorsement of the United American Indians of New England, does Occupy Boston have a position on casinos?
Are the haters for real? Why does this threaten you? So it’s ok to tear up whole countries for your oil but a little protest bothers you. So far the opposition amounts to the spineless 1% and a bunch of angry trolls. I’ll take my bet now.
Because the only sense of self-worth they have left is that at least they aren’t X: poor, Black, a woman, jobless, unable to work, etc. When we say that your value as a human being isn’t the value of your bank account, we are tearing down the only self-esteem they have left and saying that the years they’ve spent alienated, alone and miserably, struggling to be an exploiter instead of one of the exploited, was all for naught.
Some people can’t handle that. They are so invested in their fear of poverty that they will lash out at anyone who tells them the world can be different.
I can’t even read most of the comments on this page. These two were a breath of sanity, so thank you for that :). Such a shame these jerks have to clutter up a page that is about an expression of respect.
Oh yeah. Total respect to the american Indians. Maybe at the end you get your beautiful country back and can begin to look after it properly again. Hopefully you get to take your place at the top of the table where you rightfully belong and this time we listen to what you teach us morons.
Wow. You guys did good. I had been against that resolution when I heard about it. I thought they were going to open floodgates to every fashionable leftist cause and socialist crank economic theory and promote green energy fraud, etc. But things seem to be ok. This is so cool.
Lets do this big weird freaky thing for a week on the Boston Common for the week of Thanksgiving. Let His Honor know we are out of his park when the week is over. Or maybe its state property? Lets see if our friends from United American Indians of New England would want to be involved with something like this. They fed my family on that first Thanksgiving.
You guys get more strange by the minute.
Indians? What are they mad about…they got casinos. Isn’t that the 1%? Oh well. Lets cancel Columbus Day and Thanksgiving too. Have you guys found a credible leader yet for your movement? Any demands yet? How come so many protesters are wearing what look like muslim type scarfs? Is that just a fashion statement or is there something more profound there?
your ignorance and hatred are profound… giving someone the right to run a casino does not ‘cancel out’ centuries of colonization and genocide. are you jealous of them? go try living on a reservation. furthermore, i think the scarves are because people are afraid of pepper spray. try to at least pretend to have a heart.
Ignorance and hatred. No heart. I get it. This beautiful country has embraced native Americans. It has also embraced countless other races and ethnic people that were wronged in one way or another. While prejudice and injustice still endures most cultures have become the fabric of our society. I have no desire to live on a reservation. Those that do choose to. The American dream is still very strong. If you wish to do something-go do it. Even if that something is to stand downtown shaking your fist at the skyscrapers as many of your friends are doing. We even provide you with a space.
would frank also like to see their birth certificates? it might be another jihadist plot the fbi/cia/nsa just pure and clean missed? theyre gonna hijack the park and fly it into a building. arab dudes can fly anything like an f-16.
Oh I get it another 911 hoaxer conspirast. Yes jihadist you said it. That’s what you look like. Nice fashion statement. Your movement emulates the enemy.(we are a country at war). But your too busy in denial that we were attacked and still working on your theories. Not to worry. I’ll keep doing my best to keep you and your family safe.
every time this movement finds a credible leader the 1% kills them. Jesus, Gandhi, JFK, MLK. Is that what you want? A target.
Occupy Boston is simply making use of the concept of The Commons – a is term
referring to resources that are owned in common or shared between or among communities populations. These resources are said to be “held in common” and can include everything from natural resources and common land to software.
This land was forcefully taken from native people. it is my understanding that this is why permission was sought by the Unite American Indians of N.E. They fully support the right of the Occupy/Decolonize Boston encampment to expand from Dewey Square to other parks and open spaces in the city, without the necessity of permits and without fear of police reprisals.” They also received permission from the caretakers of the Greenway.
What more can they do? They have asked historic and current land caretakers.
They have been granted permission. They have right to the Commons, as we all do!
Find the similarities, not the differences. Anything that separates cannot be truth.

I almost want to say to everyone…GROW UP!!…..can YOU HEAR YOURSELVES????? show some respect and love first of all to native people who have suffered through things YOU couldn”t even imagine….and second….what matters the most in the end??? your family….every where you go….the store, work, home…..take a look around….because we are all brothers my friends…put fear away for once, nothings going to change, just everything will
I LOVE UAINE . Occupiers should march in solidarity with them on National Day of Mourning (thanksgiving day) in solidarity.
It’s a beautiful, inspiring, peaceful ceremony followed by a march through Plymouth…stopping defiantly at Plymouth Rock (aka Plymouth Pebble)…and then sitting down to a nice community-prepared meal.
They are a lovely group of folks.
Then we can go to Mohegan and spend wampum
arguing w/a pathetic pos like this is a waste of time. infiltrators will do whatever they can to disrupt a true cause. that;s what our tax dollars pay them to do. if not then why waste time bantering w/a moron ?
Bostonborn. True but it gives us an insight into minds and thinking of the section of humanity who have fully gone over the edge. It reaffirms our thinking and sharpens our ability to counter their right wing Memes and they also show us who the other side is.
No one was Spit on.If so they would of come forward by now.Fox Lies, and we also have Trolls in Public not just the internet.Just Occupy Boston and dont let any one scare you away from it.
What about that female on the news spitting at a cop. She was spitting on tv. That’s just gross.
Frank. Omg someone spat on tv. I see people dying on tv all the time. That really posses me off.
I didn’t see anyone dying down there but I did see a female protester actively resisting arrest while spitting at a uniformed cop. Getting spit upon could surely be looked at as an assault. Ger, grow some fortitude and be a spokesman for your group. Create a list of demands. Do something. Just don’t have a whiny sleep over.
I didn’t say anyone was dying down there and you know that. Anyone can read what I said and you misrepresent it openly to try and diminish the original sentiment. It’s what you do with anything that doesn’t fit your agenda. This group does not need a spokesman and I only speak for myself, who do you speak for?
Oh yeah and we are doing something. Were taking back our planet. From scum like you. And if anyone is whining it’s douchbags like you. Shall I smatter a collection of your pathetic bleats over the past week together for you?
I think you love me
