RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF
THE “OCCUPY WALL ST./ BOSTON MOVEMENT
THE MASSACHUSETTS AFL-CIO OFFERS ITS FULL SUPPORT TO THE OCCUPT WALL ST./OCCUPY BOSTON MOVEMENT.
THE CONCENTRATION OF WEALTH IN THE UNITED STATES THREATENS OUR HOMES, OUR EDUCATION, OUR STATES AND CITIES AND TOWNS. THE WALL ST. BANKS AND THE LARGEST CORPORATIONS REFUSE TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES WHILE OUR INFRASTRUCTURE CRUMBLES. THEY SIT ON RECORD PROFITS WHILE THE REST OF THE COUNTRY SUFFERS, AND THEY STILL REFUSE TO PUT PEOPLE BACK TO WORK. DECENT, FAMILY SUPPORTING JOBS ARE BECOMING A THING OF THE PAST AS CORPORATIONS CUT WAGES, PENSIONS, AND HEALTH CARE BENEFITS AND EVEN OUR RIGHT TO COLLECTIVELY BARGAIN—OUR VOICE ON THE JOB.
WE SALUTE THOSE WHO HAVE TAKEN THESE ISSUES TO THE STREETS AND TO THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE OCCUPATION OF
WALL ST. AND NOW BOSTON. YOU SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER—AND YOU SPEAK FOR THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS.
WE JOIN THE OCCUPY WALL ST. MOVEMENT IN THE COMMON FIGHT TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK FROM THE THOSE WHO LIVE OFF OUR LABOR. WE URGE ALL OUR AFFILIATED LOCAL UNIONS TO HELP PARTICIPATE AND HELP OUT IN ANY WAY THAT THEY CAN.
WE, TOO, ARE THE 99%!

The typo in the first sentence is not looking to hot… “occupt”
Thank you AFL-CIO!
Kudos to my Union brothers and sisters!
Dear Occupy Boston: I applaud the sincerity of your efforts. There is something seriously wrong with our political institutions, and today’s young people, like my kids, stand to pay an enormous price for our folly.
This is gross. PLEASE do not let organized labor infiltrate and feed off of your movement. Organized labor is as entrenched and useless an interest group in our society as both major parties. The unions have more lobbyists than anyone else, they have helped drive jobs offshore and they will add nothing but the dead weight of old greedy loudmouths to the movement.
Keep up the good work. On behalf of my children, I pray for your success.
I agree 100%.
Yes. Students and labor unions are beginning to integrate rapidly. This collaboration between two huge social classes will continue to garner more support from many different groups.
I spent the first week at Occupy Boston and it was almost beyond description (just not here).
Anyway, Occupy New Hampshire launched last night and the President of the AFL-CIO was there to offer his full support and resources.
Solidarity
If unions want to stand in solidarity with the occupy movement they should refuse to support any candidate in the comming election. Not an endorsement, not a dime. It is time for labor to get back to it’s roots and fight for good jobs and a living wage not creating political power for particular candidates based on promises. In short, don’t blow smoke up our ass or your own.
